Warm weather and sunshine all day, every day makes me feel super happy and right at home. It also gets me feeling like lounging around all day, reading my favourite books, sipping deliciously refreshing drinks, grazing on light, tasty bites and just being. The perfect setting? Poolside… complete with inviting sun-loungers and a well stocked bar, serving up fruity mocktails and cocktails alike. What’s great about poolside lounging is that you can get all glammed up for it, bask in the magnificence of the Sun, just sitting pretty. I’m calling it Poised Poolside Perfection, which of course, is best followed by an exhilarating swim to cool yourself down sans sand.
Like the idea as much as I do? Here are my recommended picks for achieving stylishly poised poolside perfection in three simple steps this summer.
1. LOVE THE SKIN YOU’RE IN:
Treat your skin with love and care; you’ll be wearing it your entire life. It’s important to choose products suitable for your lifestyle, skin type and specific dermatological needs so you’ll have the best skin protection and rejuvenation before, during and after your time in the sun. My preferred choices at the moment are these paraben-free La Roche-Posay sun care products and organic skincare products from Antipodes, Pai & Green People. I absolutely love Pai Jasmine & May Chang Replenishing Body Oil! It smells and feels divine. 1. La Roche-Posay Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid | 2. Antipodes Immortal Performance Plus Daily Moisturiser with SPF15 | 3. La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray | 4. Pai Jasmine & May Chang Replenishing Body Oil | 5. Green People Hydrating After Sun
2. PRIMP, PREEN & SET THE SCENE:
This is a good time to go as natural/ make-up free as you’re comfortable with, it’s just the most sensible option in the heat. I wear very little make-up but the two must-haves in my make-up bag are my Dr. Hauschka volume mascara to open up my peepers and Dr. Hauschka Play of Light lipstick which gives my lips a very subtle shimmer of translucent colour. Applying these sparingly to clean moisturised skin usually does the trick for me. Well manicured nails are a must at all times for me so Bio Scultpture Gel Everlasting Manicure has been part of my regular monthly nail care routine for years. While away the time daydreaming and making notes in this gorgeous kikki.K Gratitude Journal 6. Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara | 7. Dr. Hauschka Play of Light Limited Edition Lipstick Novum | 8. Bio Sculpture Gel Everlasting Manicure | 9. kikki.K Gratitude Journal
3. DRESS THE BEST & ENJOY THE REST:
Dress well to suit your figure and your personality; it’s a surefire way to exude self-confidence. Your beauty will then come shining though when you wear your clothing with confidence. Add interest to your overall look with stylish but practical accessories. 10. Agent Provocateur Shelby One-Piece Swimsuit | 11. Ray-Ban Original Aviator Sunglasses with Polarised Pink Lenses | 12. Silk Flower Hair Clip | 13. Heidi Leather Tote Bag – Sunshine Antique Gold | 14. Ancient Greek Sandals – Elia Leaf-deatails Leather Sandals
Hey there! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
It’s beach season and while some people are fortunate enough to live on the beach or a car ride away, there are still so many who have to jet away for a good beach getaway. While going abroad on holiday is mostly pretty exciting, the airline luggage restrictions can be quite annoying and daunting. Especially if, like me, you enjoy getting dolled up and looking most gorgeous while on holiday (uhm…yes, there are people who take a holiday from EVERYTHING when they’re on holiday, including making an effort with their outward appearance!).
The obvious solution to annoying luggage restrictions is to pack lighter, but we all know that looking effortlessly gorgeous can take some amount of effort, and a bunch of ‘must-have’ girl stuff that’s gotta make it onboard. Enter the gorgeous tote bag, my favourite multi-tasker for the holiday season.
You see, this style of handbag has 3 WINNING FEATURES:
1. Simple clean design – making it easy to pair with any outfit (evening and wedding gowns being the only exceptions).
2. Spacious interior – perfect for all the very necessary stuff us girls can’t leave home without. Making it the ever so stylish carry-on, shopper and beach bag too! *squeal!
3. Practical long handles – Look hon, free hands! Yes, you can put that fine thing on your shoulder and go handsfree. Yippee!
So to summarise, whether you’re living far away from the beach with no sandy holidays on the horizon, or you’re jetting off to some far-flung destination with no spare room in your luggage for an extra handbag, these beautiful travel totes make the perfectly stylish companion on the beach, at the bar or just out shopping and having fun. Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello everyone! Happy Friday to you all. I hope you’ve had a lovely and productive week, and now ready to have an enjoyable weekend.
So festival season has arrived in the UK and all the buzz is about Glastonbury. Although I won’t be going to the festival, the tiny reformed shopaholic in me had a good time whizzing around the internet, looking at the lovely things I would be packing if I, the lady of the Mews did Glasto. Out of the many gorgeous things I found I decided to share my top 5 picks in this week’s Friday 5. I’ve already got one of these items, and although I have no plans for a festival, I would very much like to get the rest!
On another note, I truly admire my girlfriends who are able to do weekend camping at music festivals annually. I’ve done it once and I found it pretty challenging! The thing is my real friends know better than to extend the invitation anyway because no one in their right mind (who knows me well) would want to be my travel buddy to a music festival where there’s camping involved; I would hog the car space and the tent space with all the ‘must-haves’ or in my case ‘lux-haves’ that I couldn’t stand to leave behind at home. This all takes too much time and effort really. The last music festival I camped at for a whole weekend was The Big Chill, back in…I can’t even remember the year. I insisted on carrying my very own flushable porta-loo, much to the distress of my travel companions. That went down well but I’m sure they won’t be in a hurry to go camping with me again…well, they haven’t invited me since. Hahaha! I think I’d much prefer ‘glamping’, thanks! How about you? Are you the all weekend camping type?

Hey lovelies! It’s time to kick off those winter boots, treat your tootsies to a pedicure and step into Spring with your best foot forward. I think these beautiful sandals by British designer Sophia Webster say ‘hello spring’ more than any other footwear I’ve seen for the season so far…they’re most certainly swanky treats for feet.
Enjoy the sunshine!
3 Tips To Consider When Choosing A Winter Coat
Still overwhelmed by the myriad of colours, fabrics and styles of coats out there? Here are 3 things to consider before buying your winter coat this year.
1. Fabric The main focus when choosing a winter coat should be how warm it will keep you throughout the season. To pick a coat that’s warm enough you will need some general knowledge of fabrics. Yes, you guessed it, I’m going to mention my favourite C-word again… Cashmere and wool are undoubtedly the best fabrics to keep you warm during the winter. However, the high cost and short durability of cashmere as outerwear makes 100% wool or wool and cashmere blends a much better choice for coats. If you decide to go for synthetic blend fabrics it might be worth choosing one with a Thinsulate lining that lends extra warmth without added bulk.
2. Style There are so many styles of coats out there in different lengths and colours; this is why some of us get dazed and confused at this point. Using the ‘magic method’ (known to everyone else as the process of elimination), you can decide what style of coat you want within minutes!
Here’s How I Do It Every Time
Style: I’m not a sporty person, I don’t like bulky outerwear, I often wear skirts or skinny jeans with boots during colder months and most importantly I like a fitted, streamlined silhouette. Already, this is a clear indication that parkas, puffers, anoraks, duffel coats etc. are not for me. I’m more of a pea coat, classic wool fit & flare coat type of girl.
Length: Maxi coats are too cumbersome plus they hide my lovely boots, and I’m already aware that when a coat stops at a particular length along my thighs it ‘chops me up’ and makes me look awkward. So I either go for a short pea coat like the ones pictured below or one that falls at or just above my knees. Reiss fit and flare coats are my all time favourites.
Colour: This is always the easiest decision for me. I just go with what works with my existing wardrobe. For some of us, the choice of colour might even be about skin tone or simply the practicality for everyday wear.
Price is a huge factor to consider when choosing a coat, especially if you’re on a tight budget. It may sound a bit strange but it’s best to consider this point last, so once you know what type of coat you’re looking for, you’ll be able to look for one in your price range without any other distractions. It might do you well to think of this purchase as an investment. A high quality coat will last you a few winters; a poor quality, cheap version is likely to fall apart before the winter is over.
Whichever coat you choose, remember to take good care of it during and after the colder months have passed. When Spring arrives, have it dry-cleaned and store it suitably until next winter. Not only will you preserve your investment, but you’ll also have a coat ready on that first chilly day next Autumn when everyone else is scrambling to find something to keep them warm.
